If you have excellent credit, Capital One offers four options.
Cash Rewards Visa
Cash Rewards Visa offers an introductory offer of $100 and a 50% cash back bonus at the end of each year. All purchases earn 1% cash back. Simon Zhen of My Bank Tracker recommends this card because of the excellent Visa benefits it offers, but warns consumers that they may have to pay a high APR to take advantage.
Platinum Prestige MasterCard
Platinum Prestige MasterCard offers cardholders an introductory APR of 0%, giving those with excellent credit an opportunity to take advantage of the low interest rates available. However, as noted by Michael Dolen of the Credit Card Forum, the card does not offer a rewards program.
Venture One Rewards Visa
Venture One Rewards Visa enables consumers to earn 10,000 bonus miles as an introductory offer and 1.25 miles per dollar on all other purchases. Along with the impressive introductory offer, you can enjoy Visa perks and will not incur any foreign transaction fees.
Venture Rewards Visa
Venture Rewards Visa enables consumers to earn 10,000 bonus miles as an introductory offer and 2 miles per dollar on all other purchases. This card also offers cardholders the ability to take advantage of the benefits Visa offers. In addition, foreign transaction fees are not assessed on purchases.
Consumers with average credit have five products to choose from.
Classic Platinum MasterCard
Classic Platinum MasterCard offers consumers an introductory APR of 0%, but does not come with a reward system. Katrina Guiterrez of Daily Markets noted the card may be an unfavorable choice to some because it offers a $0 annual fee for the first year, but does not include reward perks for consumers. However, it is an offer worth considering since cardholders have access to MasterCard benefits.
Cash Rewards MasterCard
Cash Rewards MasterCard offers a 50% cash back bonus at the end of the year on cash back earned and 1% cash back on all other purchases. Reviewers from Credit Karma were not pleased with this card because of the excessive APR.
Cash Rewards MasterCard for Newcomers
Cash Rewards MasterCard for Newcomers caters to those who are new to the United States and want to establish credit. It offers 2% cash back on travel and 1% cash back on all other purchases. Although the APR could be lower, Beverly Harzog recommends this card for those who are new to the country because it offers them a simple way to build credit while earning rewards.
Journey Student Rewards Visa
Journey Student Rewards Visa offers 1% cash back on all purchases and a 25% bonus for timely payments. Cardholders also have monthly access to their credit file. Reviewers at Credit Shout agree that this can be a great option for students because it offers a reward system. However, cardholders are encouraged to avoid carrying a balance to avoid paying the excessive APR rate.
If you have poor credit, Capital One offers the Secured MasterCard to help you get back on track. You must provide a security deposit of $49, $99 or $200 to access your credit line. Cardholders also get a free subscription to Credit Inform. With consistent timely payments, you may qualify for an increase in your credit line and eventually may qualify for an unsecured card.
Beverly Harzog recommends this card since it reports to all three credit bureaus, which is necessary to boost credit rankings. However, the APR is on the high side, so you should avoid carrying a balance.
