Carla, whether the prepaid card is reloadable or not depends on the particular card you choose. Look for a prepaid Visa that is reloadable and without reloading fees.
-- Contributed by: Tamsen Butlerare the visa gift cards reloadable or no? i am on a fixed income and am looking for a card i can use to buy bulk items off the internet, i think it would save me money in the long run than to buy at the store. at wal mart and target hills bros cappucino are $3.56 per 16 oz container and on hills bros site i can get 6 /16 oz containers for about $19.00. my grocery store charges $4.50 or so for the same size same brand. i know it's only a few dollars savings but it's worth it since my funds have been reduced.
-- Contributed by: carla DickAllen, I suggest you call the telephone number listed on the back of the card and ask a customer service representative about your options.
-- Contributed by: Tamsen ButlerI bought a prepaid visa last Feb. for my daughter who is in college. she sent the card back to me because she could'nt activate it. I no longer live at the same address or have the same bank account, and needless to say i don't have the receipt. What can i do?

You should contact customer service using the 800# on the back of your Visa Gift Card or contact the bank from which your Visa Gift Card was purchased.

A child or adult can use a gift card. The age requirement for purchasing a gift card is set by the individual gift card issuer. Generally, a card can be issued if the purchaser already has an account with the bank. The age limit for opening an account is 18; however, children can open an account with the signature of their parent.
Thank you for your question.

Great question! Technically, a gift card is neither a credit or a debit card. Since it is prepaid, there is no revolving line of credit available as there would be with a credit card and the funds are not being deducted from a checking account as they would be with a debit card. Visa calls this hybrid card a "gift card" since gift giving tends to be the primary reason for the purchase of the card. But, you can also purchase the card for your own personal use. From a usage standpoint this "gift card" is accepted by merchants as if it was a debit or credit card.

So does a visa gift card go under credit or debit?

You are right! Visa Gift Card Prepaid Credit Cards are a terrific gift to give and a wonderful way to shop online (or in retail stores!).
But don't let down your guard on website shopping just because you are using a prepaid credit card. You still need to give your card number when you shop. If the wrong person got hold of the card number they could empty out the balance on your prepaid credit card.
Enjoy your holidays, but be sure to stay credit card-safe.
