Draegur, online merchants usually have verification systems in place that will not accept a fake credit card number, even when the website claims to not charge the account for free services. My suggestion is to simply not utilize the services of websites that you cannot trust.

so... this wasn't what I was looking for. I basically tell my clients this exact info whenever fraud shows up on their cards, but I extrapolated it myself by experience. Truth be told, I was hoping there would be a 'fake credit card number' SERVICE that allows temporary verification holds and THAT IS IT--NOT connecting to a real account anywhere, but allowing these 'freethisorthatbull....com' shysters to provide you with their "free" (as advertised) service WITHOUT giving them the chance to sign you up to services you don't need, fraudulently, behind your back!

The number of digits on the card is determined by the card issuer. The algorithm is only available to high security staff members of the card issuer. Remember, it is a federal crime to create fraudulent credit cards or credit card numbers.

The first six-digits are MII & the last digit is calculated by the given algorithm. These 7-degits are clear to me. Now, the other 9/12 digits are the Account Number. What if the account number has more digits than 12? How are you going to calculate the 12-digits now???

I'm not really sure of what you mean by "activate my account" on a website. If you are looking for a Visa card with a minimal credit line you should consider a prepaid Visa card. With a prepaid card you can control how much, or how little, you place on the card.
