I used your flex plan to pay off higher interest credit cards. I was paying so much a month and getting nowhere. I can now pay more on my flex payment and will hopefully be debt-free in 16 months. That may sound like a long time but for me I was looking at years. You can't imagine how much easier things are financially for us. Thank you .martina

people need toknow that citi flex has terrible customer service. You issue checks cancel account, reopen account re issue new checks close the account again befor eusing the checks and cause alot of fees from person bank. when you call they tell you your account has been closed and cant be re-open what the hell is that all about. Thats not being helpful especially when the loan was used and paid off in full way before the end of the terms.

Dear Sirs: I beg you to approve a better line of credit over my actual account, because I want consolidate two Chase Credit Cards in order to have only one with you. I know I can pay the monthly amount you borrow me because between my wife and me can pay an amount more or less of $ 200.00 monthly without problems. Our joint annual income is about $ 13500.00 no sons, no rent, no utilities to pay. Our nephew and niece pay all home expenses.

Joe, thank you for your comments.

Very disappointed with Citi's CitiFlex line of credit and customer service. Very unreliable transfers and very poor customer service department. Seems to me that Citi is letting their service keep on worsening. I would recommend anyone to find another company that will make you feel like they value your business at the very least.

I have a citi flex line of credit but have moved and had a forwarding address however I have not received a bill in almost two months, what is the customer service phone number?

-- Contributed by: Sean Kenney

It can certainly be frustrating when a lender reduces the available credit on an account, but with the curren economic climate it is becoming more and more common. This is simply the creditor's way of reducing risk. Contact CitiFlex customer service and request your full credit line is reinstated and you may find your request granted.

-- Contributed by: Tamsen Butler

I have had a Citi Flex line of credit for almost 2 years with a credit line of $8,800.00 and was using less than 1/3 of that amount. I have never been late on a payment, and have a credit score over 700 and just received a letter stating that because I was not using the full line of credit that they were lowering my credit line to $5,000.00 gee $3,800.00 less for having good credit. I just don't understand this it's like the people who are trying are being punishing for paying on time.

The Citi Flex Line of Credit is the only account I have that I truly love. Citi has been the absolute best in these poor economic times. I wish I had taken them up on their offer when they first emailed me about it 6 months prior to me actually getting my account almost 2 years ago. They have given me the best rates. Other credit card companies are playing dirty pool by snatching your limits away & putting you at just under your available limits, making you look like a terrible risk, which really hits your credit score. Then others follow suit when they check your credit, because they don't see what happened. Others are raising their rates & fees making it almost impossible to just pay the minimums each month, even though I have never been late, never had a returned fee for insufficient funds, nor ever defaulted on any of my accounts, (including any of my other bills besides my credit cards). Citi has even given me the lowest rate on my Credit Card account. And just so anyone reading this knows I am not fooling around, the APR on my Flex Line has dropped 5 times over this past year. It is 4.99% down from 8.99%. My Credit Card has dropped as well down to 6.99%. Thank you Citi. You're the best at this time in my life when things are bad every where else!! And one last comment to Jeanine C. Everyone makes mistakes, but at least Citi is giving you the opportunity to correct it. Like you, I have, or I should say had, perfect credit until American Express got really dirty & snatched my limits. I had $13,000.00 available to me on one of the cards & had only used not quite 1/3 of it, when they took it all but $800.00, making me look like I'm ready to max it out. They did this with the other 2 accounts I have with them as well, & one of those accounts had no charges on it. They've caused my credit score to drop over 150 points. So now when all of my other accounts look at my credit history, they assume I'm a huge risk, even though I've had most of my accounts for 10 or more years. Again, I thank you Cit!

-- Contributed by: Katrina Kirby

Jeanine,

Thanks for your comment. Many creditors are tightening up their credit policies. Cardholders who have only had minor delinquency problems are finding their credit lines being decreased, and their available credit is being withdrawn. Each credit issuer uses a different timeframe for reviewing payment activity. This means that eventually the late payment of many years ago will no longer be considered a problem by the credit issuer.

-- Contributed by: SusanWeber

Since Citi is (curiously) behind the times with their payment options for the Citi Flex Line, you cannot make a simple internet payment through a website administered by their company. I use my bank's online Bill Pay option to make payments. Also, on a personal note, Citi Flex recently reduced my loan by more than half of the original amount, citing only my "Level of Delinquency On Accounts". According to the three bureaus, I have good credit and nothing negative on my credit reports (though, I was delinquent by 30 days, one time, over two years ago- I received the Citi Flex line in June of 2008). When I called Citi to ask about this issue they told me to mail them a letter of dispute along with my credit reports- which I will do. However, I am very angry about the reason they cited for decreasing my loan. What's the point of monitoring your credit and making solid, on-time payments every month if the financial institutions you do business with are going to disregard your effort? Based upon this negative and disappointing experience with Citi, I would not recommend this financial institution to any consumer.

John,

I think that you will find that most companies have tightened their credit criteria over recent months which makes it more difficult to obtain credit with a high credit line initially.

Thanks for your comment.

I would like to say that i think that the Citi Flex Lines can be very helpful however i think that they are very strict and they offer very Low Credit Lines. It seems to be that they are on the way out with that product and i hope that they relax that criteria

Thanks for the update on the cancellation of the online payment option on the Citi Flex Line account. No longer offering online payments appears to a change to the account procedures. It is typical for a credit card issuer to make revisions to a card's procedures when they stop opening new accounts.

Thanks for your update.

-- Contributed by: SusanWeber

No, unfortunately Citi does not permit online payments though I am told they are working on this option. Also be warned that Citi charges a nasty little fee for paying by phone. The method for payment is by mail. I have had a Citi Flex Line account for about 2 years. I haven't had a problem with them though I always pay my bill promptly.

Debra,

LoveToKnow Credit Card is not affiliated with Citibank in any way, so we are unable to answer your question about why the credit line was cut off. I suggest that you, or Mr. Graham call the 800# for customer service and ask to speak with a credit specialist. This will be a different phone number and they probably only take calls during daytime business hours. They will be able to tell you why the credit line was discontinued. You should also be receiving a letter of explanation. Be sure that Citibank has your correct address.

Thank you for taking the time to inform us of your recent problem.

-- Contributed by: SusanWeber

I was notified by my associate that my line of credit as cancelled. But what I don't understand is when you were going to notify me. You can't imagine the shame I felt when he phoned me the 31st of August at 9:00 pm that you all cancelled my line of credit. That was after you sent him checks. When I found out, I called your customer service reps who responded as if they were wardens in a prison. It would not have been so bad if Citifinancial had notified me first; that is before he wrote a $6000 check on checks you all sent. I think your tactics were low class, and unprofessional, to say the least. I called your company last week to add Karl Graham to our account because he will take the lead in our endeavors. That means a lot of activity on this line of credit. I have just emerged from some very serious medical issues, and was not in a position to incur new debt. Why is it that you want to punish people for not incurring debt in out economy? It seems to me that paying what is borrowed would be the correct way to go. Are you suggestin that you want to spend money that they can't possibly pay back? You all know the condition of out economy. Do you want people to continue to spend money that they can't possibly afford? I think I am correct in disccerning that you are an astute and financially responsible creditor. It's is way cheaper to have a client who can afford to pay what they owe, over someone who is frivilous and irresponsilbe. But the adding Mr. Graham to the account was the best thing I could do for my business. To make matters worse, my conversation with your reps was tantamount to speaking to someone who did not have a command of the English language. I kept asking why I wasn't notified of your rather abrupt action to close my account. Neither of your customer service reps offered any explanation but to say "It was not our decision." I called your company less than 2 weeks ago to add Mr. Graham and nothing was said to me at that time. You sent him checks, which he used, only to be told the account was closed. I was flaberglasted because I never would have thought in a trillion years that you would respond in this most unprofessional way. It felt like being in the twilight zone. Your rep said disdainly to me, that there was nothing she could do. She was mean-spirited and down-right cold. I never expected that such behavior was condoned by your first rate company. I used the account, and never missed a payment. I then was able to pay the account off, but I knew that this would b e short-term. Mr. Graham hit the ground running, for he was on the call with me when I added him on as an authorized user. I guess it's fair to say that I am angry, and dis-allusioned. When people sign up for a credit account, it's with the intention to be used. But I never even had a chance. I am still in disbelief, even as I type this experience. I really would appreciate if someone would call me and help me understand what is going on, and why your rep said that she didn't have the authority to re-open this account. I have a lot of questions, and my hope is that this will get into the hands of those who can provide some answers. By the way, I did speak to Marlene who said she was a manager, but that the account couldn't be opened. I asked her a thousand times how to be re-instated, but she responded like a computer saying, "there is nothing I can do." I need to understand why this wasn't a matter for discussion. I really want to know what is going on. Since that check for $6000 was sent, there will be a charge for the bounced check. I would like to deal with that. But more importantly, I really want to know why Citi Bank was so unrelenting, inflexible, and down right rude to me regarding this matter. I kept getting the feeling that there was something that no one was telling me. But I can't imagine what that could be. I feel jilted and unsure. Perhaps someone can shed somer light on this situation. I know this alot, but I urgently need someone to speak with me on this emparrasing situation.

Shannon,

I am sorry for your loss and the troubles you and your son are now having. You were very smart to turn this all over to your lawyer, who will be able to determine your responsibility, your next steps and interceed for you with the creditors.

Best of luck to you.

-- Contributed by: SusanWeber

During the month of May I began receiving harassing phone calls from Citi Flex, demanding money. I had absolutely no clue what they were talking about. My husband had just been murdered. He had handled all the bills and finances. I have discovered that a few days before he was murdered he used credit cards in my name to pay off all his debts. He charged debts in my name without my knowledge or authorization. He was the primary source of income in our household. He left me with a 14 month old son and a whole lot of debts and not enough money to pay those debts and the cost of living. Soon, my son and I will not be able to afford to live anywhere. We will soon be homeless and my credit will be destroyed for life, because my husband used my personal information to apply for a line of credit and several credit cards. I was not aware of an account in my name with Citi-Flex. I did not authorize it or use it. I have written to Citi-Flex and spoken with them over the phone. The only thing they care about is receiving payments. I am planning to turn this matter over to my lawyer, even though I cannot afford to pay the legal fees.

Gale,

It is unfortunate that you have had these problems. When the economy gets tight or when consumers credit scores fall, many credit lenders tighten their credit restrictions and freeze or lower their credit limits. The Terms and Conditions of your line will include several phrases about their rights to adjust the credit line.

You should consider reviewing your credit reports at all three credit bureaus to double check that there is not an error on your credit report which might be lowering your credit score.

Thanks for your question.

-- Contributed by: SusanWeber

I have had citi-flex line of credit for $5000 for about a year. I borrowed $2500 and now have a balance of $986.00. I called citi-flex in mid July to ask for a credit line increase. They told me that they could not increse my credit limit, but that they could transfer $4000 into my checking account that day. I said no. I asked them to send me some new checks just in case I needed them. I wrote a check and deposited it into my account a few days after the checks arrived. Then, I wrote a check against my checking account. The day that I wrote the check, Citi-Flex decided to lower my balance to the amount that I owed. The check that I had written bounced and now I have all kinds of problems. When I called citi to ask why they had done this, they said that they had just reviewed my credit and decided to lower my credit limit on the day that I deposited the check. I think that they did it to screw me up. They did not inform me that they were lowering my credit limit. I did not find out until the checks bounced. What good is a line of credit if they can cut it off on the day that you write the check.

Give the CitiFlex customer service reps a call - the number is on your statement. They should be able to either set you up for online payment or they may be able to set up an auto payment from your regular checking account.

I can tell you this line of credit is a great deal, my wife use the line of credit of 20k and is the only line of credit that you can see your savings, while you use it again, you see the interest going down in every payment, they are very good and I will love to have a credit line for myself as well. The only thing I have not found yet is how to pay on line, I have to go to a big stress every month when I send the payment by mail hoping gets ther on time. Other than that, all I can say is, Thank you CitiFlex!!!!

-- Contributed by: C.A.

ii,

The Citi Flex Line of Credit is not a scam. Citi has recently stopped opening new accounts, however existing Citi Flex account holders can still use their Citi Flex line of credit. Customers looking for a revolving line of credit should consider Citi's new check-based line of credit, Checking Plus.

Thank you for visiting LoveToKnow Credit Cards.

Chris,

You are right. There is an auto pay option. Its a great way to stay on top of your payments - no chance for a late payment that might hurt your credit report.

Thanks for your comment.

-- Contributed by: SusanWeber

Jon,

You are an idiot and obvoiusly did not take time to call. There is an automatic payment option!

Chris

-- Contributed by: Chris

Jon,

You can arrange with a Customer Service rep to have an automatic payment deducted from your checking account every month. This is not a widely advertised option, but Citi will make it available if you ask. If your Customer Service rep does not know about it, ask to speak to his/her supervisor.

Thank you for your question and for visiting LoveToKnow credit cards.

-- Contributed by: SusanWeber

Susan,

You really don't know WTF you're talking about, so stop reporting on an account you don't even have. There is no auto-pay option for Citi Flex. You either pay by phone every month and pay a fee, or you write a check.

--Jon

-- Contributed by: Jon

Joe,

CitiFlex does have very limited payment options. If you are concerned about paying on time, consider asking a customer service rep about an autopayment program where they will automatically deduct the miminimum payment due from your checking account on the due date. You will never miss a payment.

Thanks for your comment and for visiting LoveToKnow Credit Cards.

This is the biggest scam in the industry. they charge you to pay by phone, they have no way to pay online, and they send you your bill just days before it is due. They do their best to make you default by giving you no option to pay. BBB should be all over this. Don't do it!!!

-- Contributed by: joe
