Credit Card Options

Shell credit cards, which are offered by the Citibank Corporation, come in a variety of accounts so every customer can find one that matches his or her needs. Each card offers the same basics benefits, like around-the-clock online access and protection from charges related to credit card fraud. Examining each card’s benefits and taking a close look at your credit card spending habits can help you find a card to complement your life.

  • Shell Card. This is the basic card most consumers start out with. It’s a fee-free card that allows cardholders to keep gasoline payments separate from other purchases, so you can access more of you account when you need it for more expensive items. Cardholders can also conveniently use the card right at the pump without having to head into the station to sign a receipt, as well as use it for ATM advances. The Shell Card can be used at Shell gas stations and most Jiffy Lube centers.

  • Shell Select Member Card. The Select card lets consumers earn cash back on vacation expenses such as hotel stays, car rentals, and airline tickets. Card members can receive back up to 10 percent of their total bill at participating hotels like Holiday Inn and Ramada. Many of these hotels also offer a discount to card users. You can also get travel insurance when using your card to book your vacation. Of course, like all Shell credit cards, the Select Member Card can be used on gas purchases as well. This card, however, comes with an annual fee of $29 and you have to book your travel through the Shell reservation center to get the discount.
  • Shell Fleet Credit Card. Businesses that depend on fleet services will enjoy the benefits of the company’s fleet card, which gives account holders advanced online access to keep an eye on purchases and track expenses. Fleet accounts can be used to purchase all goods at Shell stations, like food and travel items, or it can be limited to only gas expenses. Since all purchases are tracked through the account, it eliminates the time and hassle of filling out expense forms. Like most credit cards, the Fleet card does charge an interest rate, but it has no annual fee or extra charges, making it perfect for small businesses that still need convenient access to gas.
  • Shell Fleet Plus Card. The premium card for businesses that have a lot of gas expenses, the Fleet Plus Card gives customers a rebate based on their monthly purchases. Businesses can earn as much as 3 percent back each month and the card doesn't have an annual percentage rate. It does, however, charge a small fee if you don't spend a certain amount each month. The flexibility of the tracking system and the ability to limit the type of purchases the card is used for make it a great way to manage the fuel needs of a large organization.

Paula,

According to Federal law a cardholder is not responsible for the first $50 of charges on their card if it is lost or stolen as long as they report the loss immediately to the card issuer. Don't wait for the statement - call immediately when the card is discovered missing.

Thanks for your question.

I have access to a Shell Fleet card but I've been told that there isn't any protection for the company in case it is stolen and used. The company believes it will be responsible for all fraudulent charges. I believe that if someone wrongly charged against the card and if we reported it immediately upon receiving the bill then the charges would not be our responsibility. Who is right?
