Sam's Club Credit
From LoveToKnow Creditcards
There is more than one version of the Sam's Club credit card. Which card is most appropriate for your needs depends on your credit worthiness and any business needs you might have.
Sam's Club Credit Cards
Sam's club offers a few different credit cards, both for personal and business needs.
Personal Needs
Three different Sam's Club credit cards are available to applicants. Sam's Club members with acceptable credit scores may qualify for one of the three versions of credit. Each card has different benefits including rewards programs with two of the cards.
Only members of Sam's Club are eligible to apply for and receive credit.
- Advantage Member Credit Card: This card acts as both a membership card and credit card. Not every Sam's Club member is offered this card. Some members are offered the card after an automatic credit report review while other members request the card by filling out an application. Features of this card include:
- No annual fee
- Security features and no liability for fraudulent purchases
- Limited cash access within a Sam's Club location
- Discover Cash Back: Discover offers a Sam's Club credit card that can be used anywhere Discover is accepted. This means the card can be used at Sam's Club in addition to other retailers and to pay for goods and services wherever Discover cards are accepted. Other benefits of this card include:
- Cash back rewards that vary according to the type of purchase made
- Cash access
- Every benefit offered to cardholders of the Advantage Card
- Discover Earn Miles: This Sam's Club Discover card earns travel rewards for purchases made on the card. The number of miles accrued depends on the amount of purchases made on the card. Reward miles are accumulated for purchases made at both Sam's Club and with other retailers. This card can be used wherever Discover is accepted. Other benefits of this card include:
- No annual fee available for some cardholders
- Potential bonus miles awarded to card members
- Cash access
- Every benefit offered to cardholders of the Advantage Card
Which card is best for you? If you simply want a credit card for use at Sam's Club locations then the Advantage card should be sufficient. If you would rather have a rewards card then you will want to decide between cash back and travel rewards.
Keep in mind that the Discover card may require a higher credit score for acceptance than the Advantage card will. If you have less-than perfect credit then the chances of getting approved for one of the rewards cards if lower than your odds of receiving and Advantage card.
Business Needs
Many businesses – both small and large – utilize Sam's Club for purchases. Sam's Club credit cards for businesses are similar to the cards offered for personal use. There are three varieties, including the same two Discover Rewards cards offered to individual consumers.
Instead of the Advantage card, business customers are offered the Sam's Club Business Credit card. Special features accompanying this business card include a detailed, itemized billing statement every month as well as no annual fee.
Business owners decide which employees get access to cards. Owners can also track the spending on each card to make sure that only authorized purchases are made.
Sam's Club also offers a direct credit line for business owners which allows them to make purchases using purchase orders and other methods. This is different from a revolving credit line attached to a credit card.
Apply for Credit with Sam's Club
Applying for a credit card through Sam's Club is easy. Members can apply at a Sam's Club location at the customer service desk or can instead pick up a paper application to mail in. The quickest way to apply for a card is online using the secure Internet application.
Your chances of getting approved for a credit card through Sam's Club are greatly increased if you have an excellent credit history.
