Pay Capital One Credit Card Bill
From LoveToKnow Creditcards
There are several methods to use to pay Capital One credit card bill charges.
Pay By Mail
Even with all the new technologies, many people still pay their credit card bills by mail. If you get paper credit card statements, all you have to do is send a check or money order to Capital One in the envelope that comes with the statement. Make sure to tear the payment coupon off and send it with your check. Be sure to write your account number in the memo field. This will assist the representative who receives it in crediting the payment to the correct account.
If you don’t have your payment envelope, use the tool on Capital One’s website to determine the address you should use. The address differs depending on where you live. Send your payment at least seven days before your bill is due to anticipate any mail holdups and always address the check to “Capital One.” Or, send your payment by overnight post to Capital One Payment Processing, 6125 Lakeview Rd., Suite 800, Charlotte, NC 28269, if you are getting close to the deadline.
Pay Online
The quickest way to manually pay Capital One credit card bill charges is by signing up for online banking. You can enroll in the service by entering the following information into the required fields:
- Your credit card number
- Signature panel code
- Expiration date
- Birth date
- Last four digits of your Social Security number.
Once you’re set up, you can link your card to a bank account and make transfers instantly. Just be aware that Capital One has a cut-off time, so it’s best to submit at least the day prior to the deadline on your bill. The times are as follows:
- Posted the same day if paid before 3:00 p.m., ET, Monday to Saturday
- Posted the next day if paid after 3:00 p.m., ET, Monday to Friday
- Posted on Monday if paid anytime on Sunday or Saturday after 3:00 p.m., ET
Pay Over the Phone
It’s a good idea to pay your bill over the phone only as a last resort because Capital One will charge you a fee. The cost to pay your bill via an automated system is less than if you want to speak to an actual person. If you need to pay your bill in this manner, the number is 1-800-955-7070. It can be accessed 24 hours a day. Have your card handy when you call because you will need it to navigate the phone system.
Pay Capital One Credit Card Bill Charges Automatically
Possibly the easiest way to pay your bill is to set up an ACH debit from your checking account. This is not done through Capital One, but instead through your financial institution. If your institution offers automatic bill payment you can give a representative your credit card account information. He or she can set up a system where a set amount is sent from your checking to your card each month automatically. It’s a good system for people who have trouble remembering to pay their credit card bills. The downside is you may forget the money is getting taken out and accidentally overdraft your account. That’s just one of many reasons why you should prepare a monthly budget.
No matter which way you pay your Capital One bill, make sure you do it on time and pay at least the minimum each month. If you don’t it may raise a red flag at the bank and subject you to both fees and a default rate.
