Credit Report Innovis
From LoveToKnow Creditcards
While you may already know that Experian, Equifax and TransUnion can send you a copy of your credit report, Innovis is a company you might not be familiar with. Innovis, which was originally known as Associated Credit Bureaus, has been in the credit report business for over fifty years.
Corporate Support
Innovis is known as a company that provides consumer credit information to corporations. Innovis supplies prescreened mailing lists to companies that contact consumers for credit offers and other products. These lists assist companies in finding the ideal consumers within their target market. In other words, companies do not waste their time and resources in sending credit offers to people who will not qualify for the account in the first place.
Innovis also compiles other lists for companies that all pertain to consumer creditworthiness, locations of ideal consumers and other factors that can be very useful to companies looking to reach qualified customers with products and services.
The business services provided by Innovis are what this company is best known for. While many corporations are quite familiar with Innovis, consumers may be less familiar with the consumer services offered by this company.
Consumer Services
Although Innovis does concentrate more on corporate services, it also provides credit report information to individual consumers. Like the other three major credit bureaus, an Innovis credit report lists a consumer's payment history as reported by creditors. Information that may be listed on an Innovis credit report includes:
- Mortgage loan information
- Car loan payment history
- Installment loan payment history
- Credit card information
- Information regarding liens, judgments and bankruptcies
An Innovis credit report usually does not include payment information regarding:
- Utility bills
- Cell phone payments
- Medical bills
- Rental details
The exception to the above items is if any of these items have gone into collection status due to delinquent payments. If the account is delinquent, or was at one time delinquent more than thirty days on the credit report, Innovis may include the delinquency on the credit report.
Request Credit Report Innovis
Consumers can request a copy of a credit report from Innovis in two ways:
- By calling the Innovis automated request system at (800) 540-2505. The system will lead the caller through a series of questions to verify their identity. Callers who do not want to deal with an automated system can call Innovis during business hours (8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET) and speak to a customer service representative.
- By sending a request for a report through the mail. The request form must be downloaded directly from the Innovis website and requires information to assist Innovis in verifying the requestor's identity. The form must be submitted with a copy of the requestor's government-issued identification card such as a driver's license.
Fees
The cost for obtaining a credit report from Innovis depends on the state the consumer lives in. A complete list of state-specific fees can be found on the Innovis state fee chart on the website. Fees range from $3 to $11, although some states require Innovis to send one credit report free to residents on an annual basis, per the resident's request.
Consumers are also entitled to a free credit report from Innovis if they have recently been denied credit based on a credit report item. Unemployed people who are currently seeking employment, or who will seek employment within the next two months, are entitled to a free copy of their credit report. The same is true for people who are on a public assistance program.
Fraud and Credit Freezes
Consumers who feel as though they are victims of fraud and who want to put freezes on their credit reports should not forget to contact Innovis to request a freeze. They can also request a free credit report to see if there are errors or fraudulent activity within the report. Innovis will work with fraud victims to get errors and fraudulent items removed from the report.
