Credit Card Deals

Credit Card Deals Seem Endless
Credit card deals are constantly popping up all over the place. Collect the mail from the mailbox, there's probably an envelope containing a "great" credit card offer waiting to be opened. Check e-mail, there's probably some "junk" mail offering a few credit card deals. Open a magazine, there's probably an advertisement for a credit card.
It's hard to avoid the constant stream of messages that credit card companies send on a daily, hourly, and even minute-by-minute basis. All claim to be extending the best credit card deals available to the human race, and all tell potential customers to "hurry" because the deal will be over in a few days.
Credit Card Deals Normally Come with New Accounts
For anyone who has tried to negotiate credit card interest rates or other credit terms on an existing credit card account in which there is any sort of balance, it is a difficult and sometimes impossible feat. Once there is a balance on a card, the credit card company knows the account owner is stuck paying off the debt under current terms, unless the balance is transferred to another credit card.
Knowing this, it is normally possible to obtain good credit card deals on new credit card accounts. Many deals that credit card companies extend to new account holders include no fees for the first year and, possibly, a low or non-existent interest rate on balance transfers for a full year. Other benefits may included with a new credit card account.
Good Deals Can Mean Good Rewards
Minimal or no annual fee for a credit card may be important to some people, and a low interest rate may be important to others. Yet, there is a group of people who are not at concerned either of these incentives because they never keep balances on their cards. For people who pay their bill in full every month, the most important aspects of great credit card deals is how the card will benefit them in terms of rewards.
Credit cards that offer coupons, gift certificates, or rebates every time the cards are used is a great deal for people who do not have a balance on their credit card. For them, the freebies are really free.
Some Credit Card Deceptions
Upon seeing an application that boasts Zero Percent Interest for the Life of a Transferred Balance, some people may get excited. This sort of deal seems too good to be true, and it may be just that. The fine print on the application that offers this sort of deal usually states something to the effect of, "In order to keep the interest rate at zero percent, the credit card must be used for at least three purchases per month." This way, if the credit card company is not making money off interest payments, they are sure to make money from the cardholder's purchases.
No Guarantees
It's important to remember that just because a credit card application letter states that the card is available with a low interest rate, it does not mean that everyone who applies for the card will get the same rate. The letter itself is not a guarantee of anything. Before signing up for another line of credit, read the contract careful.
