Citibank Credit Card
From LoveToKnow Creditcards
If you carry several different credit cards in your wallet, chances are one is a Citibank credit card. Citibank offers numerous credit card offers, making it easy to find the best card for your specific needs.
Citibank Credit Card Options
Citibank offers a wide range of credit card options to applicants. Whether you want a basic credit card with a low interest rate, or if you need a travel rewards card for your small business, Citibank has a card to fit your needs.
Rewards Cards
Rewards cards allow you to accumulate points toward travel, merchandise, or other bonuses with each purchase made. Pay close attention to the interest rates and fees associated with rewards cards. Some cards allow you to accumulate points quicker, but often there is a higher fee or interest rate associated with the card.
- Citi Diamond Preferred Rewards Card: Earn higher reward points for specific purchases including charges at grocery stores and gas stations. All other purchases receive lower reward points.
- Citi Home Rebate Platinum Select: Rewards from purchases on this card are applied directly to your mortgage balance. The highest points are accumulated from signing up for recurring utility bill payment through this card.
- Citi Upromise Platinum Select: Accumulated reward points from this card go directly into a college savings account, allowing parents to save for college for their children with daily purchases.
Low Interest Rate Cards
Not everyone wants to deal with rewards cards, and many consumers would prefer a credit card that gives them a low interest rate for balance transfers and purchases. Credit cards which do not feature a rewards program typically have lower fees associated with the account.
- Citi Platinum Select: Balance transfers to this card feature a 0% introductory interest rate. There is no annual fee for this card.
- Citi Diamond Preferred: The introductory period of this card features a 0% interest rate for purchases for the first year, and then a competitive interest rate thereafter.
- Citi Platinum Select for College Students: College students can apply for this card without a cosigner. There is no annual fee for this card.
Always look beyond the initial introductory interest rate when comparing the various credit cards offered.
Business Cards
Some cards are designed with business owners and entrepreneurs in mind.
- CitiBusiness Premier Pass: This card features a low introductory rate in addition to reward points for purchases. The rewards are higher for certain business-related purchases.
- CitiBusiness Card with Thank You Network: Like the Business Premier Card, points are earned by making purchases. The main difference is that this card does not have an annual fee and also allows for free additional cards for employees.
- CitiBusiness AA Advantage: The interest rate for this credit card is higher than for the other business cards listed above and includes an annual fee, but the travel rewards for American Airlines are very generous.
Retain the Perks
Although Citibank credit cards often include low interest rates, low fees, and attractive rewards, be aware that if you do not make your payments on time or if you repeatedly exceed your spending limit then you are defaulting on your original contract. Citibank is under no legal obligation to keep your credit card accounts at the low interest rates and other perks if you default on the original agreement. If you don't pay as agreed then you may find your interest rate skyrocketing in addition to the costly fees you will incur.
Apply for a Credit Card
Applying for a Citibank credit card is simple. You can apply using a few different methods:
- Online via the Citibank website: www.citibank.com
- Over the phone: 1-800-347-9700
- You can also use one of the above methods to contact a customer service representative and request a paper application to be sent to you in the mail.
If you aren't sure which credit card will best suit your needs, contact a Citibank representative to discuss which card you should apply for.
