American Express Rewards Eligibility
In an effort to reward their cardholders, American Express created the Membership Rewards® Program. There are currently several different credit cards that are eligible for Membership Rewards®. To enroll, cardholders must first see if their card is eligible and then register in the program to start receiving American Express rewards.

While all of the above cards are eligible for enrollment in the American Express Membership Rewards® Program, there are additional cards available with built in rewards. With these cards, rewards are automatic and built into the card as a benefit to the cardholder:

How American Express Rewards Work
Once enrolled in the Membership Rewards® Program, cardholders can turn their purchases into points and earn a wide variety of rewards that include everything from hotel accommodations to exclusive travel offers.
Cardholders earn one point for almost every single dollar charged to an American Express rewards eligible card. Unlike some rewards programs, there is no limit to the number of points that can be earned and the points earned will never expire. As an extra bonus, there are certain times of the year in which cardholders can earn points at an accelerated rate. These additional bonus points allow cardholders to redeem rewards even faster than normal.
Points can be redeemed at anytime and may be traded in for American Express rewards like free or reduced price entertainment, dining, shopping, and travel. Cardholders also have the opportunity to transfer points to hotel guest and frequent flyer accounts.

Exclusive Rewards
In addition to offering rewards like airfare, hotel stays, cruises, and cash, American Express also offers exclusive rewards to their cardholders that can't be obtained anywhere else.
